Soup Set | Winter Meal Soup
A school project exploring seasonal eating and elegant soup serving solutions.
This was my second school project at KADK. We were given a very open brief with just the word "a meal". I chose to look at food in the future, which led me to explore the concept of eating seasonally — something many believe could help lower CO2 emissions.
Another way of getting more out of our food is to boil it in a soup. This way you get all the vitamins and nutrients from the ingredients. I chose to work with the winter meal.
The requirements I set:
- The pot where the soup is cooked in is also the pot the soup is served in
- A clear relationship between the pot, bowl and ladle
The ladle is designed to hang on the pot so it won't sink down in the soup and the user won't have to lay it on the table. The lid can hang on the side of the pot. The relationships between pieces are expressed through color, materials and visible bolts.
I chose a simple stackable form for the bowl. The foot gives the bowl a unique look without creating fear of getting hot soup all over the table.
