Kitchen Mixer
Industrial ceiling mixer designed for smaller commercial kitchens.
This project was made on my 3rd semester at KADK. The overall subject was the commercial kitchen. I chose to work with the smaller commercial kitchens to investigate their use of machinery.
During field studies I visited the Copenhagen University Hospital, nursing homes, schools, and daycares. I found that smaller kitchens often had a mix between industrial equipment and normal kitchen supplies — industrial equipment that took up too much space or was meant to produce larger portions than needed.
The new machine should not take any table space when in use. I visited the Bjørn Varimixer factory and learned about materials, hygiene, and safety considerations.
The final design is a ceiling-mounted mixer concept that frees up valuable counter space while maintaining the functionality required for smaller commercial kitchen operations.
