Generating Figma components with AI

I have long had a hard time figuring out how to play with AI to help me as a UI designer. But I recently it have changed. In my post about AI in Established Design Systems I investigated how AI begins to be able to producedesigns that can relate to the rules of a design system. However — the output I got was in code and didn’t really fit into my current workflow as a designer.

No we won’t be prompting our components in chatGPT
This time I have been looking at creating figma components with chatgpt using the console within figma. It is doable. However I don’t think we (designers) should spend the a lot of time learning it since it is a uphill battle to get the prompts just right. (however you might could set something up with claude and project instructions)

Why it is interesting
We should play around with it since I think ai tools and our design tools will melt together. The technologi is there right now. So Figma could properly present a built-in AI next config.

Things I could imagine prompting:
- new components.
- put together a landing page of existing components.
- make 10 variations of this card components where we change the corners and spacings with our values from the variables.
